Man and Woman

The US Supreme Court has redefined marriage by striking down prohibitions on same-sex marriage in all 50 states on June 26, 2015. For the LGBT community it was a historic moment. The US joins 17 other countries that have legalized gay marriages.  These countries are Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, France, Iceland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, the United Kingdom and Uruguay. It will be no surprise that other states will follow suit as LGBT activists use legal arguments for their case.

I have friends who are gay or lesbian, and they are talented, righteous and Christian. I respect them for their individuality. But the union between people of the same-sex is a different issue. No law, no judicial ruling and no legal argument can overrule God’s precepts.

“So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.” (Genesis 1:27)

“And He answered and said to them, ‘Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning ‘made them male and female,’” (Matthew 19:4)

“But from the beginning of the creation, God ‘made them male and female.’” (Mark 10:6)

“As for you, be fruitful and increase in number; multiply on the earth and increase upon it." (Genesis 9:7)

“The unique meaning of marriage as the union of one man and one woman is inscribed in our bodies as male and female,” said Archbishop Joseph E. Kurtz, president of the U.S. bishops’ conference.

In one of his homilies during his visit in the Philippines in January 2015, Pope Francis told the audience, "The family is also threatened by growing efforts on the part of some to redefine the very institution of marriage…As you know, these realities are increasingly under attack from powerful forces which threaten to disfigure God's plan for creation and betray the very values which have inspired and shaped all that is best in your culture."

As faithful believers of Christ, it is incumbent upon us to find shelter in God’s teachings, and remain strong and steadfast in protecting our families from the laws of man that are dictated by the devil. (Bro Mel B Libre)
